In October 2016 I spent the best part of a month out on the Arctic archipelago of Svalbard as a part of an artist residency programme. You can view my trip log, research, and inspiration on my Arctic blog here.
The Arctic’s Last Gleaming
Hand embroidered work inspired by the decline of the Arctic glaciers as they recede – fractured ice drifts apart leaving as the glacier’s mass is diminished.
Nanuq, Who Cleansed the World
A performance of a cleansing ritual conducted on the Arctic archipelago of Svalbard (Spitsbergen).
Home is (was) a small sculptural embroidery inspired by Climate Change issues and constructed with ice and nylon thread.
Hand embroidered polar samplers stitched on linen with a variety of stitches.
