The Arctic’s Last Gleaming

The Arctic’s Last Gleaming is a series of stumpwork embroideries inspired by the floating glacier ice I encountered during my Arctic Artist Residency.

Floating glacial ice is the result of the glaciers calving or melting into the sea as a part of their natural flow but icebergs have become synonymous with climate change issues.

This work is an attempt to visualize the decline of the Arctic glaciers as they recede. All of the embroidered pieces that make up this work originally formed one single image of the Tunabreen glacier at Svalbard.
