Description
There’s a pig. There’s a rainbow. There’s a sky that anyone who owned a computer in the early 2000s will recognise immediately.
Me Just Tryna Vibe is my largest needlepoint to date – approximately 65 hours of hand-embroidery, made in stolen half-hours during the first months of my child’s life. Every stitch placed by hand, in the gaps between feeds and naps, until something this size and this strange existed in the world.
The image is sourced from internet culture from that particular strain of meme that sits somewhere between absurdist humour and genuine longing. Against the iconic Windows XP desktop landscape, a small pink pig-like creature sits amongst the flowers. It doesn’t ask for much. It just wants to exist somewhere soft.
The piece has been exhibited at Mission Gallery, Swansea and Hypha Studios, London, before returning to the studio available to collect for the first time.
